Efter att jag blivit utskriven från sjukhuset hann vi med en middag ute i Perschiera del Garda vid Gardasjön i norra Italien och en förmiddag på stranden innan vi tog tåget till Cinque Terre. Tågresan dit var nog den drygast på resan. Det tog ca 5 timmar med två byten och två av tågen var skramliga, varma gamla pendeltåg, inte så jättebekvämt, men fram kom vi ju. Cinque Terre är en kusträcka på Italiens västkust som omfattar fem små byar. På italienska betyder det "de fem landen". Vi bodde fem minuter med tåg norr om dessa fem byar i Levanto. Vi hade sedan tidigare bestämt att vi bara skulle slappa, sola och bada i Italien och nu kunde vi äntligen göra det! Första dagen skulle vi ligga på stranden i Levanto men när vi gick runt bland de olika uthyrarna av solstolar fick vi bara svaret "it's full, it's full" trots att flera stolar var lediga. Tydligen var alla reserverade... Vi blev hänvisade till den allmänna stranden och då var det handduk direkt på sanden som gällde. Vilket inte direkt är mina favvo, man får jag ta mig fan sand överallt och det fanns inte heller mycket till skugga på den stranden. Jag kom dock på att jag sett att det legat bastmattor och parasoll i en låda på hostlet så jag gick upp och lånade dessa. Så det blev en bra och galet varm dag på stranden till sist, och visst hade vi sand överallt efteråt! :P
Andra dagen köpte vi båtbiljetter och åkte mellan byarna i Cinque Terre. En mysig och trevlig men också väldigt lång dag. I tio timmar var vi ute och gick bland byarna. Vi började längst söder ut med Riomaggiore och jobbade oss norr ut via Manarola där vi åt lunch och badade från klipporna, vidare till Narozza där vi efter en stund kände att det var läge att åka hem. Men då insåg vi att båten tillbaka till Levanto bara gick en gång och det var vid halv sju, så vi slog hål på de sista timmarna i Monterosso där vi fikade och satt på kajen och tävlade vem som kunde spotta bigarråkärnor längst... Camilla vann överlägset varje gång!
Tredje dagen i Levanto spenderade vi på stranden under förmiddagen och lunch i byn innan vi på eftermiddagen åkte vår sista tågsträcka till Rom via La Spetzia. Kändes konstigt att det var sista dagen på vårt interrailkort och att vi närmade oss resans slut. Vi båda kände dock att det var ganska skönt att snart få komma hem, vi kände oss ganska färdiga med att resa. Trots att resan varit hur bra som helst känns det också skönt att känna sig klar och redo att åka hem.
Vi bytte alltså sol och bad mot ytterligare en storstad. Kom till Rom vid åttatiden på kvällen och mötte då upp Camillas mormor och moster för middag på stan. Verkligen jättetrevligt att kunna möta upp flera personer på resan som vi känner! :) Vi åt precis vid Fontana di Trevi som jag verkligen sett fram emot att se, men det var inget att se mer än en stor byggställning.. Ganska så trist att de behagar bygga om just när vi är där! :P
I onsdags traskade vi runt i stan och trodde stundvis att vi skulle smälta bort i värmen. 35 grader i en storstad är inte att rekommendera, galet hur mycket man svettas alltså! Vi började dagen med att besöka Vatikanen. Tog tunnelbanan dit och fick köa ner på perrongen pga allt folk! Har fasen aldrig varit med om så mycket folk i t-banan någon gång, nästan så man fick lite klaustrofobi pga trängseln och värmen. I Vatikanen gick vi in i Petruskyrkan. Efter det åt vi lunch och traskade till en glassbar, Giolitti som Camilla varit på när hon var i Rom första gången. Där mötte vi upp Camillas mormor och moster igen och åt supergod gelato. Dom visad oss till Pantheon som idag är bla en minnesplats för flera av landets kända konstnärer. En väl bevarad byggnad med ett öppet tak som när solen lyser in skapar ett solur. Från Pantheon gick vi till Plaza Navona och tittade på fontänen med skulpturer som representerar fyra av världens största floder. Vi kollade också innan Spanska trappan innan det var dags för en sen eftermiddagssiesta på hotellrummet. Vi köpte med oss lite ost och kex, melon och lite annat och göttades oss innan vi gick ut för att äta vår sista middag.
Sista dagen i Rom, och där med sista dagen på vår resa spenderade jag vid Colosseum och Roman Forum. Camilla har redan varit där så hon gjorde annat medan jag flanerade runt bland historiska byggnader. Riktigt häftigt att tänka på hur många människor som gått längst de där kullerstensklädda gatorna innan mig, inte bara miljontals turister utan alla som bott där genom tiden. Verkligen maffigt att se både Colosseum och Forum (en gammal mötesplats för Romarna). Det är svårt att ta in hur stort det verkligen är och hur välbevarat det är trots att mycket har raserats. Jag mötte sedan upp Camilla vid Viktor Emanuel-monumentet, en gigantisk marmorbyggnad som är Roms nationalmonument. Vi gick sedan för att äta vår sista lunch, blev jättegod bruchetta och pizza. Vi satt där och filosoferade innan vi långsamt traskade genom stan en sista gång innan vi tog vårt pick och pack och flög hem till Sverige.
Vi kände som sagt tidigare i veckan att vi längtade hem litegrann och att vi var klara med resandet men när vi väl skulle åka hem ville ingen av oss göra det, vi kände att vi hade kunnat fortsätta lite till trots allt. Och det är också en bra känsla tycker jag, det betyder att man trivs och vill fortsätta men också att man "slutar på topp" vilket jag verkligen tycker vi gjorde. Vi har haft en fantastiskt härlig resa som jag är så glad och tacksam över att vi gjort! Trots lite motgångar med sjukdom har allt annat fungerat hur bra som helst och jag kan inte komma på en enda gång när jag och Camilla varit oense om nånting... Bästa resepolarna! ;) Vet inte hur jag ska avsluta detta mer än att jag kan säga att alla som har möjlighet borde testa att tågluffa, hur härligt och spännande som helst!
